Creating my first-ever personal brand newsletter is one of those projects. Sure, I’ve developed and managed newsletters for businesses. Now, my name is standing alone and not behind a company shield. The purpose of my newsletter is to incorporate the topics that I’m passionate about - business, community, entrepreneurship, literacy, mental health, mindfulness, parenting, and real people like you and me - to enrich lives, share resources, and help provide opportunities. If this newsletter can impact one life, I’d say that it is a success.
Over the past year, I’ve focused on my health (I lost 40 pounds) personal and professional growth. I’ve found that growth comes from moments of discomfort and uncertainty. It hurts! Entrepreneur Darren Hardy wrote in his book “Entrepreneur Rollercoaster” that by challenging your fears through action and choosing activities that scare you (i.e. relocating, cold calling, skydiving, etc.) you’ll grow and build resilience. Both are needed to be successful in business. I highly recommend you read Darren’s book.
To challenge my anxieties, I took action. I had my first rollercoaster ride when I visited Dollywood. I got on 9 out of the 10 coasters and encouraged my daughters to ride a couple with me. Also, I did creative work that I’d been sitting on for years and incorporated my new business. Last week, I launched my media platform BABE (Beacons of Achievement, Beauty, and Excellence). It took me over 20 years to get out of my own head overcome anxiousness start it, finally!
